Photography is more than point and shoot - it is about capturing shape, form and perspective. It is about emphasizing contours, shades and colours. Also it can be about hiding irrelevance and emphasizing the obvious and vice versa.
Light meets shadow, colors can mutate, lines diverge - blur and motion can converge. All of these parameters are adjustable by the photographic artist.
All this - simply to force the observer to 'see' what the artist 'wants' you to see.
